A native of Ohio, Jonathan came to the Deaconess Community from working in communications for a Church in the South Suburbs of Ohio.
He was born in Ohio in the coal and steel town of Steubenville and grew up in the suburbs of Columbus, where he studied history at The Ohio State University where he met his wife Julie.
After working for a few years for the State of Ohio, Jonathan and Julie moved to Oak Park to attend graduate school. In 2015, Jonathan graduated with a Masters in History from Wheaton College.
Jonathan’s Work at the Deaconess Community
Jonathan is responsible for developing and overseeing member (sisters) and public communications. His goal is to clearly communicate the mission and work of the Deaconess Community.
He develops and manages the Deaconess Community’s website, edits and distributes the Deaconess Community’s member (sisters) newsletter and public newsletter, and manages the production of videos for all the web, social and presentations.
Pens and history
A self-described nerd, Jonathan’s three passions are effective communications, pens and notebooks, and finding ways to insert useless historical stories into conversations.
He and Julie live in the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago with their neurotic dog, Bogie and their enormous cat, Tobias.
