Through shared learning, worship, celebrations, meals and fellowship we focused on Bridges: building, maintaining, crossing and even avoiding them as we celebrated the gift of Community during our 2018 Assembly.
It was good to welcome our Board members, Pastors Dick Bruesehoff and Diane Greve and Bishop Terry Brandt, our Treasurer, Tony Aukett.
We spent time learning together with Mission Partners: Dr. Dave Webb, Pastor Patrick Joiner and Pastor Amanda Olson de Castillo. We also heard from Boston Common’s Lisa Hayles and our CoVE Committee Chair, Dr. Susan McCarver.
Partnerships were celebrated as we welcomed Lisa Polito, LDA Executive Director, and Sr. Krista Anderson, our liaison to ELCA Domestic Mision.
Taking a day to dwell in the life of Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Dr. Lori Hale asked us to focus on his story which wove into God’s story and pointed to Bonhoeffer’s radical response and motivating action.
Motions were brought to the floor and actions were taken which call us to prayerfully consider how we build, maintain or cross bridges with our abundant resources.
Questions were also asked which needed research before they were answered. But, the answers will come! The energy created by the actions and questions is motivating and has called for workgroups and/or zoom calls.
We did good faithful work together and now, look forward to drawing on the motivating energy of the assembly to continue to build, maintain, and cross bridges as we do God’s work!
