CHICAGO — The Board of Directors is pleased to welcome Sister Liz Colver to the position of Director of Vocation and Education for the Deaconess Community.
Sister Liz comes to the position of DoVE after serving in the Northwest Washington Synod as co-mission developer/community organizer for the Catacomb Churches, a network of house churches in the greater Seattle area. Her previous experience includes serving as the Community Organizing Specialist for the Northwest Washington Synod and teaching courses on Vocation and Formation at Trinity Lutheran College as an adjunct professor.
Sister Liz is a lifelong Lutheran, born and raised in Seattle, Wash. She received a BA in Biblical Studies from Trinity Lutheran College in Issaquah, Wash., and went to seminary at Seattle University’s School of Theology and Ministry. She is trained in community organizing, transformational leadership, and accompaniment, and provides training in those areas as well.
Sister Liz has been married to her partner, James, since 2002. They have 3 children, Hazel, Shepherd, and Amos, and live in Kenmore Washington–a suburb of Seattle that rests at the northernmost tip of Lake Washington.
