This year the Deaconess Community has continued to impact a broken world by partnering with organizations through Mission Support Grants. This year the Community has committed to awarding grants to 19 different organizations that work across the United States and the world. These organizations work in different fields but they all are working to show God’s love to the vulnerable and those in need.

Some of these grants are re-occurring, continuing a partnership with organizations. One of these continuing partnerships is with Cathedral in the Light in Greenfield, Massachusetts. They work to address the physical and spiritual needs of the poverty-affected people through worship and community.

Another continuing partnership is El Centro de Todos los Santos in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. They provide after-school-care and tutoring programs to first-generation Hispanic families and to low-income families. They also work to increase trust between those families and the police.

Other grants begin new partnerships. One of these new partnerships is with Luther Memorial Church in St. Paul MN. Through their its Safe Place Youth Program they provide after-school-care and are looking to expand that into the summer. Another partnership is with Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Philadelphia, PA. They support newly-arrived immigrants during their first month in the country through their Welcome Home ministry.

These four partnerships are just a few of the organizations that are finding ways to take God’s love into the world and care for those who need it. It is a privilege for the Deaconess Community to partner with them in impacting a broken world.
